About Fine N Funky
Fine 'N Funky opened its doors in Tahoe City, California in February 1978. Ken and Neata Arnbrister had a vision to bring stylish non ski fashion to their mountain community and denim was their main focus. Their vision grew as their customer’s needs grew and their stores did too. They opened Fine 'N Funky men’s in 1984 and Fine 'N Funky Footwear in 1996.
In 1988, they opened Concepts by Fine 'N Funky in Reno, Nevada, and in 1997 they consolidated their Tahoe City stores into a single, larger Fine 'N Funky, currently located in the Boatworks Mall, Tahoe City, California, and then Concepts by Fine 'N Funky in Reno, Nevada, moved into a neighborhood with a free standing store.
Neata Arnbrister passed away in 1997, and Ken Arnbrister, in 2006. Their daughter, Lisa Arnbrister is currently running the business. As a child she worked in the family business and as a mother and as a fashion entrepreneur. In 1997, she stepped out of the business to start her own cosmetic line, Tuff Scentence, a range of scented nail polishes and then later, a full line of cosmetics.
In 1999, Lisa Arnbrister and Tuff Scentence were featured on the Oprah Winfrey show, as well as Good Morning America and Fox News. Now she is at the helm of Fine N Funky. It is her determination to create a fashion driven environment to shop in that is friendly, helpful, and founded in the roots she grew up in at Lake Tahoe.
